CELEBRATING LUTHERAN SCHOOLS MONTH

MONDAY, MARCH 8 - School Spirit Week begins

Students who have a QLS sweat suit may wear it otherwise they will wear their uniform. Various projects will be on display in the Blue Room. Every class will have a table with the student's classwork, artwork, poems, photos etc. on display for everyone to view. Tables will be set up until Thursday.

TUESDAY, MARCH 9 - Student Recognition Day - Twin Day

Students may dress alike, twins, triplets and so on. Student Council will provide a snack, at lunchtime, for the students.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10 - Parent/Volunteer Recognition Day and Open School Day from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Parents or Guardians are invited to join the children in chapel at which time our parents or guardians and volunteers will be recognized. Parents or Guardians will follow the children to their classroom and see what takes place during their school day. They may go to the Blue Room for some light refreshments and view the student's work on display.

THURSDAY, MARCH 11 - Crazy Hat, Sock and Tie Day

Students may wear one or all but MUST be in uniform.

FRIDAY, MARCH 12 - Pajama Day

Students may wear their pajamas to school on this day. Pastor Klockau volunteered to make Tuna and Egg Salad Sandwiches for all to enjoy. Something special is planned for the teachers and students on this day.......shhhhhhhhhhh it's a surprise...it certainly is, Mrs. Fable is in the dark as well.

Sounds like a fun week.

REMINDERS

Good Afternoon Parent or Guardian:

I imagine you're all sorry your child/ren are back at school...or maybe not. Well, we are happy to see each and every single one of them.

Just a few reminders:

1. Tomorrow is our pancake breakfast. If your child has not brought his/her money in they may do so tomorrow.

2. All grades will do a presentation in chapel on Wednesday, February 24 in honor of Black History Month. Everyone is welcome.

3. Student Council News: Kidz' Raffle - 1 for the boys and 1 for the girls. Raffle will begin on March 1st and run through March 9th. The winning raffles will be drawn on Wednesday, March 10th. You do not need to be present to win. We will notify you by phone if you are not present at the time of the drawing.  The price for the raffle is: $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

Each basket is filled with toys, puzzles, and games.  The boys basket also has a basketball lamp ands the girls basket has a Cheetah girl doll that sings.

4. Re-registration forms are due back. If you send them back on or before February 26 you'll only have to pay $100.00 for re-registering plus the other fees which pertain to your child. After February 26 the Re-registration fee will go up to $150.00.

5. This is the last week we'll be collecting Pennies for Patients.  Our collection boxes found in every classroom are not close to being full. Won't you please be as generous as possible when giving your child your loose change.  In addition, each school will be raising funds in honor of a local leukemia patient. The classroom in each participating school that collects the most money will be awarded a pizza party. Plus, each school raising more than $500 is eligible for great prizes.

6. Tuition is due March 1, 2010.

Re-registration

Good Afternoon Parent or Guardian:

Please remember that if you complete your Re-registration forms on or before Friday, February 26th, the re-registration fee is $100.00 plus all other fees which pertain to your child depending the grade he/she is entering in September, 2010. Take advantage of this Early Bird Special.

Some of you have sent in your forms and saved a bit of money and now we need the rest of you to do the same.

Guess How Many Candy Hearts In The Jar winner is Octavio, 8th grade student. He was the closest without going over.......there were 577 candy hearts in the jar.

TUITION

Dear Parent of Guardian:

Tuition for February was due February 1st and you had until February 10th to send it in. If you have not already done so please send in your payment tomorrow, Friday, February 12th.

School will be closed for our Winter Recess, Monday, February 15th until Friday, February 19th and we will re-open Monday, February 22, 2010. If you're fortunate to have the week off, enjoy it, enjoy spending time with your son/daughter.

Pancake Breakfast

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Due to inclement weather expected tomorrow, February 10, 2010, New York City announced that Public Schools will be closed. Therefore, Queens Lutheran School will also be closed.

Be very very careful and if you are lucky to have the day off, enjoy it by spending some quality time with your son or daughter.

Parents or Guardians of 1st - 4th graders...

...I believe we've come to a solution regarding you walking your son/daughter up to the classroom.

If you arrive at school between 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. you must walk your child to the Blue Room where there will be a teacher on duty. Your child's teacher may or may not be in the classroom at that time but if they are, they are making final preparations for the day and the classroom door is most likely closed.

If you arrive at school between 8:15 - 8:30 a.m. please enter through the main door and you may walk your child up to his/her classroom.

Hope this pleases everyone, because we want nothing more than to make you and your child happy.

Open House!

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Prospective students and their parents are welcome to come to the school at any time between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7th and 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Monday February 8th. You and your child will be given a tour of the school, the principal and teachers will talk to you about our philosophy and programs. Everyone you encounter will gladly answer your questions. There will be packets with invormation available for you to take home and light refreshments will be served.

You do not need to make a reservation; simply come to the school at any time between 1:00 and 4:00 on Sunday and 6:00 and 8:00 on Monday.
