Help needed with the Outdoor Garden

If you have a plastic pool you no longer need please consider donating it to us.  We are planning to fill it with soil and start a garden/gardens.  We'll have an indoor and outdoor garden.....the greenhouse and "pools".

  • Re-registration forms for the 2010-2011 School Year must be turned in by next week
  • 8th grade ring Ceremony, Wednesday, May 12 during our 9:00 a.m. weekly Chapel service, followed by light refreshments in the Blue Room for our graduates and their parents/guardians .

  • The Scholastic Book Fair is ready to go.  A couple of our parents set it all up in Blue Room and the children are ready to shop 'til they drop.  They are hoping their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles will give them lots of money to spend wisely.

Queens Lutheran School Flea Market, Saturday, May 8, 2010

Today between the hours of 10 AM to 3 PM, many neighbors and friends came to purchase various items that were donated by parents and friends.  It was  a great way to bring the community together.  Popcorn was made and sold.   Thanks to Melanie and Harriet QLS' parent co chairs who volunteered their time.  Also thanks to Ms. Bettye Lee, Principal, Rev. James Klockau, Pastor of Grace Church, and Ms. Nina Hunt, volunteer Administrative Assistant of QLS who also gave of their time.  The Flea Market was a success and funds raised will be used for various needs of the school.

8th Grade Ring Ceremony. May 12th 2010

Join us in celebration of our Graduates as we bless and distribute their rings during Chapel.

There will be refreshments served following the ceremony in the lunchroom for the families of our graduates and the students.

NYCHA Summer Youth Employment Program Applications Available

Dear Parent or Guardian:

NYCHA's 2010 SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

NYCHA is seeking youth between the ages of 14 and 21 for the 2010 Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).  SYEP is sponsored by the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), and the 2010 program will run from July 6, 2010 through August 20, 2010.  Participants will work 25 hours a week, Monday through Friday,  NYCHA residency is not required to qualify for the program

NYCHA's SYEP participants gain valuable employment experience working in Community Centers as Counselors-in-Training (16 and 17 year-olds only), or on NYCHA Development grounds.  Starting April 1, 2010 interested youth will be able to apply on-line or download an application from the City's Web Site:  www.nyc.gov/dycd

Beginning April 2, 2010, SYEP applications will also be available at NYCHA Development Management Offices, Community Centers and at the Department of Resident Employment Services, located at 787 Atlantic Ave. 2nd Floor in Brooklyn.  Completed applications may be returned to any NYCHA Development Management Office.
